A couple of days ago, Elliotte Friedman threw oil on the Montreal rumour fire when reaffirming that Pierre-Luc Dubois is leaning towards playing for the Canadiens. It’s nothing new as Dubois’ agent has confirmed that in the past, except that it seems like the Jets’ centre hasn’t changed his mind at this time.
Now, Simon Gagné is adding to it. According to the former Flyers’ player, Dubois would love to play for the Canadiens.
“I was with him at the Pro-Am (Gagné-Bergeron) last summer and we were joking a bit about it”, said Gagné. “The feeling that I have is that he would love to come and play in Montreal one day. But of course, the business aspect comes into play… money, contract length… there are a lot of things to take into account.”
In 57 games this season, the 6-foot 3-inches, 218 lbs center has 24 goals, 31 assists for 55 points. He is in the final year of his contract with a cap hit of $6 million. He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights on July 1st and he’s only one year away from unrestricted free agency.
