Development Camp 2022 Is Underway

By JD Lagrange – It’s been a while that we’ve seen some Canadiens’ hockey, hasn’t it? As fans had a lot to keep entertained, knowing that they had the first overall pick in a draft held in Montreal at the Bell Centre, the team was not only preparing for that crucial draft, but they were putting things in motion for the team’s Development Camp.

Things get underway today, July 10th, and goes on for four days, so up to the 13th. Everything is happening at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard, the Canadiens’ practice facility.

A total of 40 players are participating in the Development Camp. It includes 23 forwards, 12 defensemen and five goaltenders.

The 11 players selected by the Canadiens at the 2022 NHL Draft held on July 7 and 8 in Montreal are among the participants, including both first-round selections, Juraj Slafkovsky and Filip Mesar.

The list of players invited to the development camp includes 28 prospects drafted by the Canadiens organization, two players acquired through free agency, three via a transaction, and seven players invited on a try-out basis.

Players will be divided into two groups. The first on-ice practice session will be on Monday, July 11 at 12:15 p.m. on both ice surfaces of the Bell Sports Complex. All practices and scrimmages are open to the public.
