This is not coming from our regular reputable NHL Insiders so take it for what it is. But self-proclaimed Insider Maxim Guérin had an interesting tweet earlier today. We have been reporting for a while now that the Dallas Stars had interest in Canadiens’ defenseman Jeff Petry, particularly if the Stars feel like they won’t be able to agree to term with pending UFA John Klingberg.
Guérin advances that according to the information he received, Dallas also wants a forward to replace Alexander Radulov. He suggests that the forward in question could be none other than Mike Hoffman.
Guérin goes on to say that Kent Hughes wants a first round pick. Dallas is set to speak 18th at the upcoming Draft. He also claims that three teams are interested in Petry. Pierre LeBrun recently said that 5-6 teams had contacted the Canadiens for their veteran defenseman.
