According to The Athletics Pierre LeBrun and Eric Stephens, the Anaheim Ducks are trying to re-sign Hampus Lindholm, Josh Manson and Rickard Rakell. It seems like their priority is Lindholm, with whom they started negotiating last week. But if they can’t sign them, new GM Pat Verbeek will look at moving them.
“At the end of the day, there’s no guarantee I can get those three free agents back,” said Verbeek. “I’m going to attempt to sign them, if it doesn’t happen, I can’t just let them walk out the door free.”
Stephens went further by stating that Max Comtois, whose production has dipped this season, might benefit from a change of scenery. The Longueuil, Quebec native had 16 goals and 33 points in 55 games last season but he has only managed two goals and six points in 31 games so far this season.
Standing at 6-foot 2-inches and 210 lbs, Comtois is a skilled, but gritty winger who is not afraid of getting to the front of the net. Picked by the Ducks in the second round in 2017, he has a good shot and he’s an asset on the power play.
Kent Hughes and the Canadiens should be all over this one. Particularly if they’re looking at trading Mike Hoffman.
