Friedman: Flames Hot On Toffoli, Dvorak Drawing Interest

According to Elliotte Friedman on his 32-Thoughts podcast, the Calgary Flames absolutely love Tyler Toffoli and are making a push for the Canadiens’ right winger. But they’re apparently not the only team enquiring about Toffoli. Always according to Friedman, the Los Angeles Kings are interested in bringing him back to where he played most of his career.

But here’s the problem if you’re the Canadiens. Toffoli is signed to a team-friendly contract or a couple more years still. The reason why he signed in Montreal was for an opportunity to play with Nick Suzuki, which he’s doing right now on the Canadiens’ top line and the two have developed some good chemistry. Habs’ GM Kent Hughes may want to hold on to Toffoli to help turn things around in Montreal. This would mean that unless a team comes in with a crazy offer, Toffoli might not be going anywhere. Brendan Gallagher might be a different story…

Friedman also mentioned in that broadcast that a few Western Conference teams are apparently considering Christian Dvorak, who is getting closer to returning from injury. Dvorak is sixth in team scoring with 16 points in 34 games, and leads the team in faceoffs’ percentage with a success rate of 55.8%.
